Exposure and Response Prevention is a type of therapy that helps people gently face the fears and worries that feel overwhelming - without falling bac on the habits or rituals that keep anxiety going. Exposure and Response Prevention is the proven, most effective, first-line therapy for OCD in adults, children, and adolescents.
In ERP, we take things one step at a time. Together, we'll identify the situations, thoughts, or feelings that trigger anxiety, and gradually practice approaching them in new ways. The "exposure" part means facing those fears in a safe and supported environment, and the "response prevention" part means learning how to resist the urge to do the rituals or avoidance behaviors that momentarily reduce anxiety but keep it strong overtime.
With practice, you can begin to notice that the anxiety naturally fades on its own - and that you're capable of handling it. Many people find that ERP helps them reclaim time, energy, and confidence that anxiety once took away. My role is to guide and support you throughout the process, always at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.
